Privacy policy — KYC Checker browser extension
Last updated: June 9, 2026
Instant Compliance KYC Checker is a Chrome extension that helps signed-in Instant Compliance users identify whether email addresses visible on webpages match customers in their Instant Compliance account and whether those customers are KYC verified.
Information the Extension Processes
The extension may process:
- Email addresses visible in the text or
mailto:links of webpages you visit. - Your Instant Compliance account session information, including access and refresh tokens used to authenticate requests to Instant Compliance.
- Your Instant Compliance user and organization details returned after sign-in.
- Customer details returned from Instant Compliance, such as customer name, email address, customer ID, and KYC status.
- Extension settings saved locally in Chrome, including widget visibility and domain allow/block preferences.
How Information Is Used
The extension uses visible webpage email addresses to query Instant Compliance and show whether matching customers exist and whether their KYC status is verified. The extension also uses your account session to authenticate these requests and open relevant Instant Compliance customer pages. When you ask the extension to look up a contact name for an email address, the extension also sends a sanitised excerpt of the page content to our AI sub-processor (Groq) to infer the likely contact name. See Data Sharing below.
Data Sharing
The extension sends detected email addresses to Instant Compliance only for the purpose of matching them against customers in your Instant Compliance account. The extension does not sell user data and does not share user data with third parties for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
For the contact-name inference feature, the extension sends the user's email address plus a sanitised excerpt of the page HTML to Groq, a US-based AI sub-processor. This data is processed transiently to infer the likely contact name and is not retained by default under Groq's standard terms. Groq is not used to train or improve its foundation models on this content under the commercial API agreement.
Because Groq is based outside Australia, this constitutes an overseas disclosure of personal information. We take reasonable steps to ensure Groq handles this information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP 8). For our broader sub-processor list and cross-border disclosures, see ourmain Privacy Policy andtrust centre.
Storage and Security
Session information and extension settings are stored in Chrome extension local storage on your device. Requests to Instant Compliance are sent over HTTPS. Instant Compliance rotates session tokens server-side.
User Controls
You can disconnect the extension from Instant Compliance in the extension settings. You can also hide the widget, disable automatic checking on every page, and configure allowed or blocked domains.
